Kick Clip Link: How to Get It and Which Formats Work

What a Kick clip link looks like, how to copy one, and how to tell it apart from channel, live and VOD links that downloaders cannot use.

A Kick clip link points to one specific clip, not to a channel or a stream. It contains the channel name and a clip ID that starts with clip_. If your link does not have that ID, a clip downloader cannot use it.

This short guide shows what a valid link looks like, how to get one, and the mistakes that cause "invalid link" errors.

KickClips accepts these two formats:

  1. https://kick.com/channelname/clips/clip_XXXX
  2. https://kick.com/channelname?clip=clip_XXXX

In both, channelname is the streamer's channel and clip_XXXX stands for the clip's own ID (a long string after clip_). The ID is what identifies the clip. Use the full link, starting with https://, and do not trim any part of the ID.

The second format is the channel page opened with a clip attached. It is still a clip link because of the ?clip=clip_... part.

From a clip you are watching

  1. Open the clip on kick.com.
  2. Copy the address from your browser's address bar. If it matches one of the formats above, you are done.
  3. Or use the clip's share option if you see one, and choose to copy the link.

From a clip you just created

When you publish a clip, Kick's post-publish screen offers an option to copy the clip link and share it on social platforms (Kick: how to create clips). Copy it there before closing the screen. Clips can be 10 to 180 seconds long. If you need help creating one, see how to clip on Kick.

Open it in your browser first. If it takes you to a single clip, copy the address bar. If it takes you to a channel page or a stream, it is not a clip link; ask the sender for the clip itself.

Kick may change its page layout or menu labels over time, so if the button names differ from what you see, copying the address bar of the clip page is the dependable fallback.

Live and channel links often look the same, because a channel page shows the live stream when the streamer is online. Neither contains clip_, so neither works with a clip downloader.

KickClips is for public clips only. It does not download live streams, full VODs or highlights. For the difference between them, see Kick clips vs VODs.

Common mistakes

Copying the channel link instead of the clip link. If you are on the channel page and the clip is open in a pop-up or a side panel, the address bar may not change. Open the clip on its own page, or use the share option, then copy.

Cutting the link short. Messaging apps sometimes wrap or shorten long URLs. If the pasted link ends early, copy it again. The clip_ ID must be complete.

Adding spaces or extra text. A space at the end, or a sentence copied along with the link, can break it. Paste only the URL.

Using a link from an app share that opens a different page. Some share links redirect. Open the link in a browser; if it lands on a clip page, copy the address bar from there.

Using a clip that is no longer public. A valid-looking link still fails if the clip was deleted (only the channel owner can delete clips), is private, or is restricted to subscribers. Check by opening it while logged out.

Trying to download a VOD or highlight. These have different links and are outside what KickClips handles.

Not waiting for processing. A brand-new clip can take a few minutes to finish processing, according to Kick's help center (Kick: clips not saving or clip errors). Wait and try again.

Once you have a valid link:

  1. Open KickClips.
  2. Paste the link into the box.
  3. Press Download, check the preview, then press Save MP4.

For device-specific steps, see the iPhone, Android and PC and Mac guides. If the tool still reports an error with a valid-looking link, work through Kick clip not downloading.

Remember that a link makes a clip easy to share, but it does not change who owns it. Ask before reposting someone's clip, and credit the creator.

Frequently asked questions

What does a Kick clip link look like?

It contains the channel name and a clip ID starting with clip_, for example https://kick.com/channelname/clips/clip_XXXX. The other accepted form is https://kick.com/channelname?clip=clip_XXXX.

Can I use a channel link or live stream link?

No. A channel or live link has no clip ID, so a clip downloader has no specific clip to fetch. Open the clip itself and copy its link.

Can I download from a VOD link?

Not with KickClips. It only handles public clips, not VODs, highlights or live streams. Kick's help center describes separate options for VODs (Kick: how to download your VOD).

Why does my clip link say it is invalid?

Common causes are an incomplete link, a channel or VOD link instead of a clip link, extra spaces or text, or a clip that is deleted, private or subscriber-only. Re-copy the link from the clip page and try again.

Do I need to be logged in to copy a clip link?

You can copy the address of a public clip page without a special step, but creating a clip requires being logged in on Kick. If the clip page will not load while logged out, the clip may not be public.
